The CD and DVD recordings of the concert have been released by Universal and can be ordered over the Webshop of the Vienna Philharmonic.

As many as 100,000 listeners attended the Vienna Philharmonic Sommernachtskonzert Schönbrunn, which took place on June 4, 2009 in the unique ambience of the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace. The free open air concert was conducted by Daniel Barenboim, who also conducted the New Year's Concert 2009. The program of the concert, which had as its theme the "Night", featured compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Manuel de Falla, Modest Mussorgsky and Johann Strauss. The concert was broadcast live or time delayed in over 60 countries.

With this free open air concert on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace the Vienna Philharmonic wishes to provide all Viennese, as well as visitors to the city, with a special musical experience. The impressive setting of Schönbrunn Palace and its beautiful baroque gardens, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site, form a unique backdrop for this musical gift.
